Harmolodic Painting

Any two elements can work together in a painting, depending on the third element introduced. More elements can be added by the same process.
The summary idea of a painting is then the combination of the third element (image or text) viewed in concert with the first two. This combination results in three subgroups, the hierarchy of which is open to the viewer, and changeable.

Consonance and Dissonance
When three elements are selected and portrayed, one pair of the three may appear more consonant than the other two combinations. Occasionally two pairs may seem more consonant than the third. If all the elements really engage the observer, the hierarchy of consonance may change with extended viewing. In any event the third element is necessary to establish more consonant, less consonant, more dissonant, etc. The consonance is a place to establish a foothold; the dissonance is a place to lean out over a cliff.
